DSS Releases Ex-EFCC Chairman Bawa After 120 Days In Custody

The Department of State Services DSS has released a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa. Bawa has been in custody since June when President Bola Tinubu suspended him. Director of Information at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey, had said Bawa was suspended as a result of weighty allegations of abuse of office leveled against him. Former governor of Zamfara State and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, had accused Bawa of demanding $2 million bribe from him, an allegation which he denied. Bassey had said suspension was to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office

Court Removes Ghandi Olaoye As Soun Of Ogbomoso

An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso has nullified the selection and coronation of Oba Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbomoso.The court said Olaoye’s selection did not follow did process and subsequently ordered the state government to conduct a fresh process to select and install the new Soun. The ruling followed a suit filed by one of the contestants for the throne, Kabir Laoye. Recall that Prince Kabir Olaoye, one of the contenders for the Soun of Ogbomoso stool, had dragged Ghandi to court, saying he was not eligible for the position of Soun of Ogbomoso. In spite of this, Olaoye had been announced by the state government as the new Soun and was installed on September 8, 2023.

11 Arrested By FCT NSCDC For Illegal Mining, Vandalism

Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has arrested eleven suspects for illegal mining and vandalism of infrastructure. FCT Commandant, NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu said the arrest is part of ongoing effort to smoke out Vandals and other criminals in the nation’s capital, Abuja. He said this will ensure peace, combat the spate of crime, and safeguard all critical assets and Infrastructures under the new FCT administration. Parading the suspects at the FCT Command Headquarters, Wuse, zone 5, Abuja, Odumosu said 11 suspects were arrested for illegal Mining, Vandalism and Scavenging in different parts of the territory.

Nigeria Ranks 1st Among Countries With Most Time Spent On Social Media

Nigeria has earned the top spot in global rankings for daily time spent on social media, with an astonishing average of 4 hours and 20 minutes consumed each day, according to data compiled by the World of Statistics. Brazil and South Africa secured the second and third positions, with daily averages of 3 hours and 44 minutes each. In contrast, Japan found itself at the bottom of the list, with an average of only 49 minutes spent on social media per day among 29 countries surveyed.
