Nigeria U-15 Team Denied Visa for UEFA U-16 Tournament in Spain

The Nigeria U-15 team, also known as the Future Eagles, have faced a setback as players and officials were denied visas by the Spanish Embassy to participate in the UEFA U16 Development Tournament set to commence on Friday.

This development was disclosed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in a statement posted on X on Monday.

The team was scheduled to travel to Spain on Tuesday afternoon for the tournament, where the African powerhouse had been invited. However, no specific reason was provided for the denial of visas to the team.

The NFF highlighted that the special invitation for the tournament was extended due to Nigeria’s remarkable history in youth football, having secured five world titles at the U17 boys’ level and making it to the FIFA World Cup final twice at the U20 level.

In preparation for the tournament, the Future Eagles underwent a week of training at the Remo Stars’ Sports Institute in Ikenne. During this period, they played two matches against the Remo Stars’ U16 boys (Beyond Limits FC), winning one and losing the other.
