The Nigeria Football Federation NFF has confirmed the appointment of Finidi George as the head coach of the Super Eagles and has announced that his first official game will be Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa in June.
Victor Ikpeba, a member of the NFF technical committee, revealed that financial constraints led to the decision to appoint Finidi George.
The NFF has also shortlisted Emmanuel Amuneke, Daniel Amokachi, and Michael Nsien for the Super Eagles assistant coaching role. Amuneke, a former assistant to Samson Siasia and Augustine Eguavoen, was also a contender for the head coach position.
Amokachi, a former forward, previously served as an assistant under Shaibu Amodu and Stephen Keshi. Nsien, a former U-23 Eagles defender, currently coaches the United States of America U-19 team.
