Asisat Oshoala leaves Barcelona for US club

Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala, is set to make a move from FC Barcelona Femini to the National Women’s Soccer League team, Bay FC, in the United States.

Bay FC officially announced the signing of the six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, revealing that she has inked a two-year deal with the option to extend for an additional year until 2027. The transfer involves a fee paid to FC Barcelona Femení of Liga F in Spain.

The statement from Bay FC stated, “Bay FC, the Bay Area’s new women’s professional soccer franchise in the National Women’s Soccer League, have acquired the rights to Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala through a transfer with FC Barcelona Femení of Liga F in Spain in exchange for a transfer fee.”

As part of the deal, Oshoala will join Bay FC, subject to the completion of her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate, occupying an international roster spot. The club welcomed her with the message, “The Agba Baller has arrived,” referring to Oshoala’s nickname, which translates to “Legendary Footballer” in Yoruba language.
