A cross-section of Nigerians have reacted to Friday’s arrest of the Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye after 8 days siege at his residence by men of the Nigerian police.
While some condemned the police over the raid, others justified their actions saying no court barred the police from effecting arrest of any suspect linked to criminal acts.
While the police confirmed Melaye’s arrest in a statement on Friday, the Kogi West Senator was also slammed for ‘lying’ in a telephonic interview that he was not in the building on the 28th of December, 2018 when the siege started.

So funny that policemen ran away from fighting Boko Haram and refused to leave @dino_melaye’s house until they got him. How I wish they had done the opposite-stayed to fight Boko Haram and leave Dino alone. I guess Dino makes them strong and Boko Haram makes them weak #RenosDarts

You know what, even a condemned criminal at the point of death deserves humane treatment. Think about it and don't over politicize issues. God bless our leaders. God bless Nigeria.

Dino Melaye is not above the law and as such must face justice.

The most disgraceful part of the @dino_melaye drama is a @NGRSenate member who is also a senior lawmaker LYING on LIVE interview on @channelstv that he was not in Abuja when @PoliceNG came to execute a warrant of arrest, lawmakers should not be running away from the courts. pic.twitter.com/amU0QQCpjh
