Facebook says it will not be accepting political adverts outside Nigeria ahead of the general elections.
The decision was taken to prevent “foreign interference” in the elections.
The new policy which also takes effect in Ukraine, where presidential elections will be held in March requires political ad buyers to confirm their identity and location.
Facebook had in recent time been criticised for being used to promote fake news and foreign interference with its policies that allows politicians to promote their campaigns with the platform.
