Police Confirm Arrest of Boko Haram Commander

Police have confirmed the arrest of a suspected Boko Haram leader, Umar Abdulmalik who allegedly masterminded 2015 Nyanya and Kuje bombings in Abuja that left scores of people dead.
Abdulmalik and seven other suspects paraded by the police were also said to have masterminded the killing of seven police officers in Abuja on July 8, 2018.

Police also said Abdulmalik and “his gang carried out the attack and jail break at Medium Security Prison, Minna, Niger State, on 3rd June, 2018 where Two Hundred and Nineteen (219) prisoners serving jail terms for capital offences and other crimes escaped from lawful custody.
Police said “the Boko Haram terrorist gang during interrogation and investigation also confessed to several bank robberies in Edo and Ondo States, and other kidnappings, armed robberies and killings in different locations in Kogi and other contiguous States.”
