Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice of the Federation, Abubakar Malami has advised the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris against linking the Senate President, Bukola Saraki to the Offa Robbery incident saying there was no reasonable evidence to prove in court that Saraki had a direct link to the robbery operation.
According to Premium Times report, the AGF, in a legal advice advise sent to the IGP on June 29 stated that his office was unable to establish any ”actionable evidence against Saraki for any offences of criminal armed robbery and culpable homicide punishable with death”.
The Newspaper also quoted Malami as clearing the chief of staff to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, Yusuf Abdulwahab of any involvement in the armed robbery.
“The police investigation did not uncover “any collaborative evidence linking” Mr Abdulwahab “to the Offa bank robbery,”
The attorney-general’s office said only prime suspects who took part in the robbery should be charged to court for armed robbery and murder, both of which could draw capital punishment upon conviction.
The AGF also ordered that the case should be returned to Kwara State for prosecution.
