Police Arrest Adeyanju, Two Others Over Social Media Comments

Police have arrested the Convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju and two others over what they described as Unlawful comments on Social Media.
Adeyanju was arrested on Wednesday when he led a protest to the Force Headquarters to demand police neutrality in the forthcoming general election.
Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood in a statement said Adeyanju, Daniel Abobama and Boma Williams were arrested for allegedly defaming the characters of President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai via Facebook and Twitter.
Moshood said “Deji Adeyanju, Daniel Abobama and Boma Williams were arrested by the Police within the powers provided under the constitution——-they contravene the law and were arrested for Criminal Conspiracy, Joint Act, defamation of character, public nuisance, disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant, disturbance of public peace, inciting public disturbance, threat to public security and safety, criminal defamatory and derogatory conduct against constituent authority and breach of law and order under sections 96, 113, 114, 152, 183 and 391 of Penal Code law.
Moshood said “some of the criminal defamatory comments and utterances were capable of inciting public disturbance, threat to public security and safety, criminal defamatory and derogatory conduct against constituent authority and breach of law.
Moshood said the trio have already been arraigned in court in Abuja for prosecution.
Adeyanju had last week led a protest at the Embassy of the United States of America, where they expressed concerns over the credibility of the 2019 general election.
The group accused the security agencies of conniving with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to manipulate the election.
