The Okoloba Federated Community in Delta has called for the establishment of an army barracks in neighboring Okuama Town to address communal clashes and killings.
The chairman, Clement Koki, made this appeal during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos. Koki made this appeal following the killing of 17 military personnel in Okuama during a communal clash on March 14.
He noted that the community, situated between two Ijaw communities, Akugbena and Okoloba, believes the presence of an army barracks in Okuama would promote peace and reduce conflicts and killings in the area.
Koki expressed condolences for the lives lost and emphasized the need to prevent further bloodshed through proactive security measures
