Malaria: A Major Public Health Concern in Nigeria

The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, ACPN, has said that malaria is a major public health concern in Nigeria, with an estimated 68 million cases and 194,000  deaths.

The ACPN Benue State Chapter Chairman, Mrs. Chioma Idoko, underscored the disease’s devastating effects on the economy and vulnerable populations. 

She reiterated the importance of community pharmacists in the fight against malaria due to their expertise in medication use and accessibility.

She added that the newly developed malaria vaccine is a potential game changer in reducing the disease’s mortality rate.
