The Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC has set July 7, 2024, as the deadline for Point of Sale POS operators in the country to register their agents, merchants, and individuals. This was revealed after a meeting between Fintechs and the Registrar-General/Chief Executive Officer, CAC, Hussaini Magaji (SAN) in Abuja.
The CAC boss said the two-month timeline for the registration, which will expire on July 7, was not targeted at any groups or individuals but is “in line with legal requirements and the directives of the Central Bank of Nigeria.”

Magaji said the measure aims at safeguarding the businesses of fintech customers and strengthening the economy.
In his remarks, Tokoni Peter, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on ICT Development and Innovation, “pledged to ensure the smooth facilitation of the process in line with the Renewed Hope Initiative of the present administration.”
