The United Kingdom government has increased the salary threshold for Skilled Worker visa holders from £26,200 to £38,700, aiming to reduce migration and prioritize British workers.
Home Secretary James Cleverly stated that this move is part of efforts to prevent the undercutting of British workers by employers seeking cheap labor from overseas. The new measures also include abolishing the shortage occupation list, ensuring employers pay overseas workers significantly more, and encouraging investment in training and hiring domestic workers.
The government focuses on recruiting high-skilled workers to grow the UK economy while reducing overall migration numbers.
