Foreign airlines want Air Peace out of business- Allen Onyema

Air Peace CEO, Allen Onyema, has accused some foreign airlines of conspiring to underprice flight tickets for the Lagos-London route to drive his company out of business. Onyema claimed that these airlines are advertising prices as low as $100, $305, and $350, which he described as a “devilish conspiracy” and “below the cost.” He believes that this strategy is being supported by their governments to take advantage of Nigeria’s market.

The Air Peace CEO made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, following the commencement of Air Peace’s Lagos-London flight services on March 30. The inaugural flight was celebrated by many Nigerians, who hoped that the presence of a Nigerian carrier on the route would reduce flight ticket costs. However, Onyema expressed concerns about the challenges faced by Air Peace, particularly during the inaugural flight at Gatwick Airport in London, where the intervention of Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation, was required.

The underpricing of flight tickets by foreign airlines has been a significant concern for Air Peace. Onyema emphasized that if these airlines succeed in their alleged conspiracy, Nigerians would pay 20 times more for flights to London. He also highlighted the importance of supporting Nigerian businesses and airlines to prevent them from being taken advantage of by foreign entities.

In summary, Allen Onyema, the CEO of Air Peace, has accused some foreign airlines of conspiring to underprice flight tickets for the Lagos-London route to drive his company out of business. He believes that this strategy is being supported by their governments and that if they succeed, Nigerians will pay significantly more for flights to London.
