Justice Irele-Ifijeh of the Edo State High Court in Benin City has sentenced three individuals, Solomon Abuede, James Monday, and Kelvin Edward, to death by hanging for armed robbery, kidnapping, and the murder of Ephraim Akhere. Oviasogie Sunday, also known as Alhaji of Kano, was sentenced to life imprisonment for receiving stolen property.
The prisoners were convicted guilty of kidnapping their victim, Ephraim Akhere, at gunpoint and killing him by dumping him into a well after administering rat poison.
The judge, who stated that the offenses occurred on June 13, 2014, released two other accused individuals owing to a lack of evidence, while the other four faced counts of armed robbery, kidnapping, conspiracy, and receipt of stolen items.
