Taoreed Lagbaja, the chief of army staff (COAS), emphasized the importance of the military-media partnership in enhancing national security during the Nigerian Army civil-military cooperation media chat in Asaba, Delta state. Represented by Jamal Abdusalam, the general officer commanding (GOC), 6 division of the Nigerian Army, Lagbaja condemned the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama community, Bomadi LGA.
He acknowledged the challenges posed by the current security situation and highlighted the army’s efforts to address these issues. Lagbaja recognized the media’s role as a crucial link between the military and the public, emphasizing the significance of accurate reporting, transparency, and responsible journalism in safeguarding citizens and strengthening national security.
He urged the media to avoid inadvertently amplifying the activities of terrorists and criminal elements, as these groups exploit publicity to spread fear among the population.
