Two Bodies Recovered After Baltimore Bridge Collapse

Baltimore police reported on Wednesday, the discovery of the bodies of two individuals who tragically lost their lives in the collapse of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge early Tuesday morning. Authorities revealed that eight workers were engaged in repairing potholes on the bridge when the cargo ship Dali, experiencing a loss of power, collided with it, resulting in the collapse. Fortunately, two of the workers were successfully rescued.

During a press briefing in Baltimore on Wednesday evening, state officials announced a transition from a recovery mission to a cleanup operation. The focus now is on removing debris obstructing access for divers to the area where additional victims are presumed to be located. Following the completion of the cleanup effort, the search for more bodies will recommence.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore indicated on Tuesday that the incident seemed to be an accident, emphasizing that there was “no credible evidence of a terrorist attack.”

The 1.6-mile bridge, bearing the name of the poet who penned “The Star-Spangled Banner,” spans a crucial pathway for East Coast shipping. Additionally, it serves as the gateway to the port, which stands as the largest in the U.S. for specialized cargo such as trucks, tractors, and trailers.
