Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, has dismissed the submission of memoranda by state governors regarding state police as futile.
Governor Makinde made this assertion during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, criticizing the move by 16 governors to submit a report on the issue to the National Economic Council (NEC).
It was recently reported that NEC had acknowledged receiving memoranda from 16 governors expressing their endorsement for the establishment of state police. The governors argued that state police would tackle the various security challenges confronting the nation.
However, Governor Makinde swiftly responded by stating that he did not submit any memorandum on State Police, branding the entire submission process as a waste of time.
