APC Vows to Resist Adeleke’s Cybercrime Committee

The Osun State Government has set up a Cybercrime Action Committee to combat the spread of fake news in the state, according to Commissioner Kolapo Alimi. This move, aimed at fostering responsible governance, comes amidst a surge of fake news between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the opposition All Progressives Congress.

The committee, housed within the Ministry of Justice, comprises journalists and legal experts. They will operate under the Cybercrime Act of 2015 to ensure compliance with the law regarding the dissemination of offensive or false content.

In response, Osun APC Chairman Tajudeen Lawal criticized the committee, calling it an attempt to silence opposition voices. He expressed readiness to challenge such repressive measures through legal means, citing concerns over Governor Adeleke’s alleged award of N50 billion road contracts to unqualified firms.

Lawal reaffirmed Osun APC’s commitment to serve as a credible opposition, seeking transparency and accountability for the state’s people.
