The Taraba State House of Assembly has passed a bill titled “Establishment of One Rotational First Class Chief and Three Third Class Chiefs Bill, 2024” for the Takum local government area, aiming to resolve the long-standing tussle for the Ukwe Takum stool.
The bill seeks to establish one rotational first-class chief and three third-class chiefs among the tribes of Kuteb, Chamba, and Jukun Takum, respectively.
After an exhaustive debate and consideration of stakeholders’ memoranda, the bill was passed into law, with the aim of uniting the tribes of Takum for peace and development.
