JAMB Staff Arrested for Chatting With Underaged Girl

A staff of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been arrested for stealing the phone number of a 15-year-old Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidate and making inappropriate advances towards her. The candidate’s mother, Iphie Abike, In a series of posts on X, disclosed that she had registered her daughter for JAMB using her mobile number using her mobile number, and a staff of the exam body retrieved her number and tried to send messages to her underage daughter. Abike expressed deep concern about the potential violation of her daughter’s data protection rights.

In response to this incident, JAMB’s ICT consultant, Mr. Damilola Bamiro, has warned registration officers at CBT centers sternly, urging them to uphold ethical standards and avoid cyberbullying and cyberstalking.

Meanwhile, both the accused staff and the individual responsible for registering the candidate have been arrested and handed over to the police, potentially facing disciplinary action and legal consequences for their actions.
