The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso anticipates a decline in headline inflation to 21.4% in 2024. This projection was shared during his keynote address at the launch of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group’s macroeconomic outlook report for the same year.
Emphasizing the impact of the CBN’s inflation-targeting policy, which aims to curb inflation, the governor highlighted the potential benefits for businesses, foreseeing a more predictable cost environment.
He suggested that the outlook for decreasing inflation could lead to lower policy rates, fostering investment, stimulating growth, and creating job opportunities.
