Suspected bandits launched an attack on Maru town, Zamfara State, resulting in two fatalities and the abduction of four individuals, including a college lecturer. The attackers, believed to be bandits, targeted Maru town on Saturday night. In a separate incident, Joint Task Force troops thwarted an attempted attack on Karazau village in Bungudu Local Government Area in response to a distress call about a large group of armed terrorists in the area.

The Nigerian Federal Government has inaugurated the first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversion Center in the North-west region. Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi, the Project Director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi), believes Nigeria’s abundant gas resources can power the nation’s transportation and industrial sectors for 97 years, offering a cost-effective alternative to petrol. Nigeria boasts of the largest gas deposit in Africa, with approximately 6 trillion ft³ of gas, making the widespread deployment of CNG conversion centers a priority to support the economy and create jobs.

Keyamo warns NAMA officials over 2024 Budget KPIs

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has threatened to cancel some of the contracts in the aviation industry, especially that of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency NAMA. The minister also lamented that no fewer than 100 airlines have collapsed in the last 20 to 25 years in the Nigerian aviation industry and expressed worries at the spate of deaths. Keyamo stated these at the Aviation Industry Stakeholders’ Forum, held in Lagos. He also threatened to sack any of the agencies’ Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) who may not fall in line with the Key Performance Indexes (KPIs) of the government.

Deadly Earthquake Strikes Nepal, Leaving Over 120 Dead

A powerful earthquake struck Nepal, leaving at least 128 people dead and dozens more injured. The quake had a magnitude of 6.4 and occurred near the epicenter of the Jajarkot district. Local authorities have warned that the number of casualties may rise. Multiple aftershocks, with magnitudes of at least 4.2, have been reported in the area. The quake was also felt in the north of neighboring CNG India, including in the capital New Delhi.
