Army General Jailed For Seven Years, To Refund Stolen N3bn

The Military Court Martial sitting at Command Mess Abuja, Tuesday, has sentenced Major General U. M. Mohammed to seven years imprisonment. The President of the General Court Martial, Major General James Myam, had found the senior Army officer guilty of 14 out of 18 count charges. The convicted senior officer is to refund $217,900 USD and N1.65bn to the Nigerian Army Properties Ltd.

Senate Begins Amendment Of NSIPA Act

The Senate on Tuesday commenced the process of amending the National Social Investment Programme Agency Act of 2023. The Bill which was introduced by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele seeks to relocate the agency from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to the Presidency. Specifically, Senator Bamidele’s proposal targets Sections 9(3), 14(1), and 33 of the NSIPA Act, 2023, to effect this transfer. The senate leader added that the bill “will now directly be under the direct supervision of the President.”

NMDPRA shuts six petrol stations, gas plant in Delta

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority NMDPRA, Warri Zonal Office has sealed six petro retail outlets and an illegal gas refilling plant over sharp practices in Delta. Head of Operations, NMDPRA, Warri, Goziem Chukwurah, Tuesday led a surveillance team of the regulatory authority, to seal the stations in Uvwie and Udu Local Government Areas of the state. According to the News Agency of Nigeria NAN the filling stations were sealed over offences bordering on under-dispensing and lack of operational licenses. The defaulters include Bwede filling station; Pius A Idoghor Oil and Gas; Eshegbe Oil; Fetega Oil and Sole Energy Enterprise all in Orhuwhorun town, Udu Local Government Area.

Palestine demands Israel to Vacate its territory- UN

Palestine has petitioned the United Nations, demanding that Israel leave its territory. The Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abdallah Shawesh, said this at a press conference in Abuja. The Palestinian militant group, Hamas, attacked Israel in a shocking move leaving over 1,500 people dead in the conflict with fears that the death toll could increase. In response, Israel ordered a total siege on the Gaza Strip cutting off electricity, water, food, and fuel. Palestinian Ambassador said  Palestinians will continue to exercise what he describes as their legitimate right to liberate and defend themselves.
