President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent appointments have come under scrutiny, with critics accusing him of promoting a pro-ethnic agenda.
The Human Rights Writers Association (HURIWA) expressed concern over Tinubu’s approval of Olayemi Cardoso as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the appointment of Zachaeus Adedeji as the acting chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
These appointments, made within a short period, have raised questions about the president’s preference for individuals from his South-West region, particularly those with ties to Lagos State. Regional organizations, including the South-West and Ohanaeze Ndigbo, have voiced their objections to what they perceive as ethnic bias in the selection process.
The Arewa Economic Forum has also accused Tinubu of favoring certain ethnic groups in crucial economic sectors.
