Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced that the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS cleared almost 60,000 passport application backlogs in just four working days.
He made this statement during a visit by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, in Abuja.
Minister Tunji-Ojo highlighted the government’s determination to address the passport crisis, emphasizing the significant progress made in reducing the backlog from over 200,000 to 59,906 within two weeks, following his ultimatum. He reiterated his commitment to clearing the remaining backlogs.
