Gunmen have reportedly killed 17 persons in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to Roots TV, the attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday in the LGA’s Heipang community.
Captain Ola James, the spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven, a security task force tasked with maintaining peace in the state, confirmed the latest incident and stated that troops had been deployed to the community.
“There was an early warning signal that some bandits might launch attacks in the area, prompting the operation to set up checkpoints in the area,” he said, “but the bandits took a different route and attacked the community.” There were 17 confirmed deaths. The OPSH commander has visited the attacked community.”
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred could not be reached for comments.
