Troops destroyed 47 refineries and apprehend 65 suspects

In the previous two weeks, troops from Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) have demolished 47 illicit processing installations and captured 65 suspected oil thieves and other criminals, according to the Defence Headquarters.

Maj Gen Musa Danmadami, Director, Defence Media activities, stated this on Thursday in Abuja during the bi-weekly news conference on armed forces activities.

Danmadami said that the troops kept up the pace in the fight against oil theft, illicit refineries, and other criminal activities by conducting rigorous raids, patrols and clearance operations among other things.

The military found 186,000 liters of crude oil, 42,750 liters of Automotive Gas Oil, 4,500 liters of Premium Motor Spirit, and 200 liters of Dual Purpose Kerosine, according to him.

According to the statement, 250 storage tanks, 220 ovens, 32 dugout pits, 31 wooden boats, and a gas welding cylinder were retrived. Two gas burners, two gas gauges, two adjustable spanners, one pumping machine, and four outboard engines are also included.

The forces also discovered 300 rounds of ammunition, 15 AK47 magazines, 211 mobile phones, three cars, and 100 wraps of a material presumed to be cannabis sativa, according to Danmadami.

He stated that on May 18, the army invaded a suspected criminal’s residence in Ibaa, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers.

“All recovered items and apprehended suspected criminals were turned over to the appropriate authorities for further action.”

“It is also worth noting that the oil thieves were denied a total of N604.4 million.”

“On May 18, the air component conducted an air interdiction operation at Krakrama, which was involved in illegal refining activities.”

“Accordingly, the location was struck, with several illegal refined products and equipment destroyed in the air strike,” he explained.

Danmadami stated that troops from Operation UDO KA continued to crack down on Indigenous People of Biafra, Eastern Security Network terrorist and other criminals in the zone in the South East.

During the period, he added, the military killed five terrorist, detained nine suspects, and collected multiple rifles, ammo and other items.
