Six pregnant girls rescued by the police from a ‘baby factory’ in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command discovered a ‘baby factory’ run by a child trafficking organization in the state’s Aluu, Ikwere Local Government Area.

Six pregnant ladies were rescued from the baby factory by the command.

The ladies, aged 20 to 23 years, were being detained with the purpose of trading their infants once they were born.

The pregnant ladies were detained on Tuesday, along with Akudo Azoroh, the operator of the child trafficking center, who admitted to running the unlawful operation.

Azoroh revealed that she distributes the newborns to families who do not have their own children, rather than to ritualists.

She stated that the ladies were already pregnant when they came to her, and that she paid the girls anything between N800,000 and N900,000, depending on the stage of their pregnancy at the time they came and the gender of the kid they delivered.

“I have given birth to six children in the past, and I started the business three years ago,” she says. I don’t have any males that got the girls pregnant; they were already pregnant when they came to me.

“I only give the babies to families without children, not to ritualists; I give them out for N1.4 and N1.5 million, depending on the sex of the baby, and I pay their mothers off depending on the stage of pregnancy at the time they came.”

Some of the pregnant ladies admitted to going to the factory pregnant and intending to give the children away after delivery since they do not have the financial means to care for the children after birth.
