Reps Write U.K Govt, Demand Leniency for Ekweremadu

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives sent a letter to the UK government asking them to intervene in the sentencing of Ike Ekweremadu, the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, and his wife Beatrice.

During a House session, a member named Toby Okechukwu raised an urgent public motion, which led to the events that followed.

The lawmakers requested that the UK court show leniency in the punishment of the lawmaker and asked the government to intervene diplomatically in his trial.

The House has requested that the Clerk of the lower chamber put their resolutions into writing and send them to the British Embassy, UK government, and parliament.
