The Home Office in the UK has released data showing a significant increase in dependent visas issued to families of Nigerian students who obtained study visas from March 2022 to March 2023.
The number of dependents rose by 146.1% to 66,796, compared to the previous year.
This increase comes despite pledges from the Conservative government to reduce immigration post-Brexit.
Nigeria had the highest number of dependents of sponsored study visa holders.
