The announcement has been made by the World Health Organisation that COVID-19 is not considered a global public health emergency anymore.
Tedros Ghebreyesus, the Director General of WHO, announced at a media conference on Friday that the international health regulations emergency committee of the global health body had made the decision at its 15th meeting on Thursday.
Ghebreyesus announced that the Emergency Committee had met for the 15th time and advised him to declare an end to the public health emergency of international concern. He accepted their advice and declared Covid-19 over as a global health emergency with great hope.
On January 20, 2020, the WHO announced that COVID-19 was a global public health emergency. The disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
