Zamfara Banditry: Commander 1 Brigade Seeks NAF, Police Synergy

Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, Commander of 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, who serves as Sector 1 Joint Task Force, North West Operation Hadarin Daji, has appealed for continued coordination among security agencies in the continuing war against banditry in Zamfara State.

He claims that increased cooperative training among state security agencies will foster better understanding and comradeship among security personnel

Brig. General Sani Ahmed revealed this during a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Nigerian Air Force’s 207 Rapid Reaction Group, Gusau, Group Captain Stephen Paul Sekegor, and the Commissioner of Police Zamfara

He claims that the pursuit of synergy in dealing with security concerns is part of the Chief of Army Staff’s vision of joint operations.

Brigadier General Sani applauds security personnel for their efforts in securing the success and peaceful conduct of the recently concluded general election in Zamfara state.

General Sani applauds the Nigerian Police for their ongoing efforts to combat banditry and other crimes and guarantees that the Nigerian Army is always ready to provide the necessary support to the Nigerian Police as established in the Nigerian Constitution.

He stated that with unity, teamwork, and synergy, the region’s insecurity would be a thing of the past.

In separate remarks, the Commander of the 207 Quick Response Group, Nigerian Air Force Stephen Paul Sekegor, and the Commissioners of Police for Zamfara State Command, Kolo Yusuf, thanked the 1 Brigade Commander for a visit and promised to work harder to rid Zamfara of banditry and other security challenges.

The duo reaffirmed their commitment to working with the Nigerian Army and other sister agencies to boost the efficiency of the war on criminal elements in Zamfara State’s 14 local government areas.

Villages and roadways in Zamfara are suffering due to banditry, ransom kidnapping, and livestock rustling, which has stopped many residents from farming throughout the years.

Security authorities have vowed to be more vigilant this time.

This time, security agencies have promised to shift the narrative and make the state a better place for everyone.

This comes 48 hours after two federal university students in Gusau were taken by bandits in Sabon Gida, Gusau, and are still being held captive.
