Former deputy governor of Nasarawa State Onje Gye-Wado has been released.
Gye-Wado was abducted last Friday when gunmen broke into his residence in Gwagi village in the Wamba Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed his release.
Nansel said the former deputy governor spent two days in captivity before his release on Sunday night, following sustained pressure from a search and rescue team.
