2023 Elections: Masari Sacks 4 Appointees In Katsina

The first set of casualties have emerged from the Presidential and National Assembly elections held in Katsina State last Saturday, as Governor Aminu Bello Masari has relieved four of his appointees of their appointment.

Masari wielded the big stick on Tasiu Dandagoro, the State Commissioner Works and Transport, Aminu Garba Waziri, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Fatima Ahmed, the Permanent Secretary SDGs, and Yusuf Barmo, the Chairman of State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Alhaji Muntari Lawal, the Secretary to the State Government, in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Katsina, explained that the four officials are relieved of their appointments with immediate effect.

The statement directed the sacked officials to hand over all government property in their possession to the most senior directors in their MDAs.

Though the statement noted that, their dismissal was part of a “strategic adjustment and realignment” within the Masari administration, political affairs analysts believe that there is more to it than meets the eye.

Sources that are familiar with happenings within the government cycle however said, the sack of the four officials was directly linked with last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The sack of the Commissioner of Works and Housing, Tasiu Dandagoro, is said to be seen as belonging to the camp of a business mogul who has clearly distanced himself from the activities of the state APC as a result of the fallout of the party’s primary elections held last year.

Some APC chieftains have since questioned Dandagoro’s loyalty while others saw him as a black sheep within the Masari administration.
