The World Health Organisation has expressed worry over the rising number of deaths in many countries. According to the WHO, more than 170,000 people have died of COVID-19 in the past eight weeks.
Speaking during a media briefing on global health issues, the Director General of the organisation, Tedros Ghebreyesus, said the Emergency Committee on COVID-19 will meet to discuss whether the current situation still constitutes a global emergency.
In another development, WHO called on countries to prevent, detect and respond to incidents of substandard and falsified medical products.
