Bayelsa Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected kidnap kingpin, John Ikechukwu Ewa also known as John Lyon, who had been on the wanted list of the police in the state.
In a press statement on Monday 26th of September, 2022 by the Police Public Relations Officer, Butswat Asinim Andrew, confirmed to our correspondent that the suspect was arrested in Abuja on the 15th of September, 2022.
According to him, their arrest is following the kidnap of Akeeb Oladele Olushola and Danjuma Omeje, Manager of a new generation Bank who was released after paying more than 100 million nairas
Andrew stated that Operatives of Operation Restore Peace through painstaking investigation arrested Emmanuel Charles Angase; leader of the gang, Innocent Kingsley, Timi Werikumo, John Uwa and Gbalipre Gamage now at large.
During interrogation, the gang leader confessed, John Ewa and others kidnapped Danjuma Omeje in his residence in Okaka. He also confesses to the kidnap of Akeeb Oladele Olusola a banker, Nancy Keme Dickson, Chinonso Eze and other Igbo Businessmen.
John lion is known for a flamboyant lifestyle on social media and as a former cleaner with a new generation Bank. He confessed to having collected ten thousand US Dollars from the Ransom collected in the kidnap of Danjuma Omeje
Item recovered from the Police operatives is a brand new Toyota Avalon lion bought for his wife with the proceed of ransom he collected.
