FG to tackle human trafficking with 2022 trafficking report

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday, in Abuja, said the Federal Government will implement the recommendations of the 2022 Trafficking in Persons Report released on July 19.

Osinbajo, who was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Adeola Ipaye, said this, during the 2022 World Day Against Human Trafficking event organised by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons in conjunction with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development.

He said, “Let me also note that the recommendations of this 22nd Trafficking in Persons Report on human trafficking released on July 19, 2022, by the US government, which is here to stimulate interactions and creating partnerships is very well received.

“Our recommendations for Nigeria have been noted. And as a country, we will continue to scale our efforts in the area of prosecution prevention, protection, policy and partnership.”

The Vice President who applauded NAPTIP and its partners for their work also noted that the government is playing its part at the policy level.

Speaking earlier, the Director General of NAPTIP, Dr Fatima Waziri-Azi, revealed that her agency has taken its anti-trafficking efforts to endemic communities.
