N6.3bn Fraud: Court adjourns ex-gov Jang’s case for judgment

A Plateau State High Court, on Thursday, postponed judgment in a case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), against a ex-Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, and a former cashier with the state government, Yusuf Pam, over an alleged N6.3bn fraud.

The court arrived at the decision after both the prosecution and the defence counsel adopted their written addresses.

The presiding judge, Justice C. L. Dabup, said the judgment date will be communicated to the parties involved in the suit.

Jang’s counsel, Mike Ozekhome, who adopted his final written address, urged the court to discharge and acquit his client.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) informed the court that Jang pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

Pam’s lawyer, S.G. Odey, while adopting his final written address, urged the court to discharge and acquit his client on all charges.

In response, the prosecution counsel urged the court to uphold his case.
