Police operatives deployed to disperse protesters in Osogbo, Osun State, have shot a journalist with The Nation Newspaper, Toba Adedeji.
A student, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained as of press time, was also shot by the police.
Some youths had gathered under Olaiya bridge in Osogbo to protest the alleged extrajudicial killing of one of their colleague, identified as Abiola.
The protesters had blocked the road and prevented vehicular movement.
It was learnt that a few minutes into the protest, some police operatives stormed the scene and shot at the crowd and journalists covering the protest.
The journalist, who was shot in the thigh, was rushed to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, for treatment.
