Families of abducted Kaduna train passengers stage protest in Abuja, demand release of bandits’ children

The families of passengers kidnapped from the bombed Abuja-Kaduna train staged a protest in the Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday.

The victims’ relatives appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, the service chiefs and international organizations to help secure the release of their family members in captivity.

The protesters also called on the president to release the children of bandits in the nation’s custody as this would help save their loved ones.

They carried placards bearing inscriptions like, “President Muhammadu Buhari please order the immediate release of abductors’ children to save our loved ones”, “#Save AK9 Abuja-Kaduna train kidnapped passengers, President Muhammadu Buhari save your citizens from their abductors now”, “President Buhari please save our loved ones”, etc.

This is the first time the families would be protesting in Abuja since the ill-fated incident.

Terrorists attacked the train on March 28, leading to the death of no fewer than eight persons, 26 persons injured and several persons were abducted.

The families said the protest was a result of the threat by the terrorists to start killing those in captivity if their demands are not met.
