The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, says he is having fun with the whole drama around his 2023 presidential ambition.
Emefiele made the statement while responding to questions from State House correspondents after a closed door meeting he had with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, on Thursday.
When told that Nigerians were anxious about his position especially as President Muhammadu Buhari had asked office holders with political ambition to resign, the CBN Governor said, “Let them have heart attack. It’s good to have heart attack. I am having a lot of fun.”
Last Friday, a group of farmers and businesspersons had purchased the N100m presidential nomination forms of the ruling All Progressive Congress for Emefiele, a move he said he did not influence.
The governor of the apex bank has been under intense pressure since the expression of interest and nomination forms of the ruling APC were picked on his behalf, triggering outrage as many called on him to step down.
