President Muhammadu Buhari met separately behind closed-doors with the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, and the Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday.
Governor Tambuwal is a 2023 presidential candidate under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Governor Bagudu is the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors Forum.
Buhari’s meeting with the governors is coming days after the PDP’s consensus arrangements structured for four northern presidential aspirants hit the rocks.
The reason for the closed-door meetings have not been revealed yet, but, presidency sources noted that the president has invited some governors that their states share borders with neighboring countries.
