Unknown hoodlums burn down herders’ settlements in Southern Kaduna

Unidentified hoodlums have reportedly attacked and burnt down two herders’ settlements in Zauru and Kurdan areas of Zangon Kataf council of Kaduna State.

Meanwhile, death toll in Sunday’s attacks in Kaura council and the violent protest that followed in Kafanchan has risen to 37, as three more bodies were discovered by security agents, on Wednesday.

In a statement by his media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari, condemned the attack, describing the attacks as a “mindless act of violence that has no place in a civilised society. The primitive and cowardly attack on innocent civilians, law enforcement officials and the destruction of houses and shops is extremely painful and condemnable.”

“The nation mourns with the Kagoro community, where the attacks took place and the military which lost their brave compatriots.”

A statement issued by the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Wednesday, said the Zangon-Kataf council chairman, Francis Sani Zimbo, met with traditional and community leaders of Kurdan and Zaurun to avert further violence following the burning of the herders’ settlements.
