Plateau Assembly had declared the seat of the lawmaker representing Jos East constituency, Ayuba Abok, vacant, following his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) last week.
The Assembly took the decision during plenary at the temporary Chamber at the old Government House, Jos, presided over by Speaker Sanda Ayuba.
The decision of the House followed a letter from the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging the Speaker to declare Mr. Abok’s seat vacant following his defection from the APC to the PDP, contrary to section 109 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution.
The Speaker also declared the Rukuba/Irigwe constituency seat vacant following the former member Musa Agah’s victory at the recent Jos North / Bassa Federal Constituency bye-election.
Assembly members sacked Mr. Abok as Speaker after he fell out with Governor Simon Lalong.
