Gunmen set fire to the Nnewi South Local Government Area Secretariat in Anambra State on Thursday morning.
As of the time this report was filed, it could not be ascertained if there were casualties from the incident.
Reacting, the Anambra State Police Command said it was a suspected case of arson.
The command’s spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives had been deployed to the area and the fire service had been contacted.
The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, visited the razed secretariat a few hours after it was set ablaze.
He assured that these acts of criminalities and lawlessness will not continue and urged the security agencies to go after the criminals and fish them out to face the law of land.
The governor was accompanied by the State Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, and other heads of security agencies.
