Police arrest man for impersonating Commissioner, defrauding, sleeping with 10 women in Akwa Ibom

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department have arrested one Imaobong Akpan for allegedly impersonating the state Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno, and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko MacDon, who disclosed this while parading the suspect at the command headquarters in Ikot Akpan on Tuesday, said the suspect was arrested based on a petition.

MacDon noted that aside from impersonating the commissioner on Facebook, the suspect also defrauded unsuspecting members of the public, mostly women, by offering them fake jobs after having sex with about 10 of them.

He listed items recovered from Akpan to include five SIM cards, two phones, seven dollars and five yuan.

He said, “The suspect, who is a notorious fraudster and sex maniac, confessed to have fraudulently created the Facebook account.

“He used the said account to lure innocent and unsuspecting ladies to hotels, have carnal knowledge of them with a promise to assist them secure jobs while defrauding others of various sums of money running into millions.

“He succeeded in luring more than 10 ladies through the fraudulent Facebook account and had sexual intercourse with them at various hotels, while posing as the personal assistant to the honorable commissioner.”

Speaking at the parade, Akpan, who had already confessed to the crime, claimed that he did not know what pushed him into the act.
