Hot water responsible for bad roads in Abia – Gov. Ikpeazu

The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has blamed the bad condition of the roads in his state on the activities of residents who dispose of hot water used to defeather chickens on the roads.

The governor made this statement during a radio interview on Tuesday, when he was asked why some of the newly constructed roads in the state appear not to be durable.

Governor Ikpeazu said, “The attention of the contractor has been drawn to that road. But again it goes back to the behavior of the people. If you go to Milverton by 10:00 p.m. you will be shocked.

“People on Faulks Road, every Sunday in the morning, will boil water beyond one hundred degrees centigrade, that water they use to defeather birds and chickens. They pour that water on asphalt. It baffles me.”

A number of roads throughout the state, listed to have been newly constructed by the Ikpeazu administration since 2015, have been described as needing pressing repairs.
