The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has declared his intention to run for the office of the President in 2023.
The Governor announced this while briefing State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
Umahi confirmed that he discussed the issue with Buhari, who asked him to go and seek the support of the people.
Umahi’s visit to the Villa is coming barely 24hours after the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, met with Buhari to make his presidential ambition known.
Speaking on Tinubu’s visit to the president, the Ebonyi governor said he is undeterred by Tinubu’s presence, saying that the contest is not about might.
