NCAA approves commencement of flight operations in Anambra Airport

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Thursday approved flight operations to commence in Anambra International Cargo Airport from December 2, 2021.

NCAA said it delayed the approval for flights operations into the airport over security considerations when the Anambra Stare government made request on October 28, 2021.

However, the director-general of NCAA, Musa Nuhu, in a letter dated December 1 and addressed to Willie Obiano, the governor of Anambra state, urged strict adherence to safety, security, and COVID-19 requirements at the airport at all times.

He said, “However, I now wish to inform His Excellency that the NCAA has received clearance from the relevant security agency approving the opening of Anambra International Cargo Airport for flight operations.”

The Director, said flights are allowed into the airport effective December 2, 2021 but it must be Visual Flight Rules – during sunrise to sunset.

Also, the time approved for such flights, the NCAA categorically prescribes that only Dash 8 Q400 aircraft or its equivalent on rescue and fire cover category Five would be allowed.
